Heluuuuuuuuu vogue-u, salam Friday to all and today mama is going to teach everyone how to chill yr weekends with this cooling dessert, SAGO GULA MELAKA.
mama version of sago, cause I add colouring to make it more interesting for the kids
This sago dessert is really simple to make and the best its so syoknesssss to have it :)
Recipe :
Ingredients: (Serves 4)
Pearl sago - 200g
Coconut milk -2 cups
Water -1 cup
Pandan leaves, cleaned and knotted -4
Palm sugar -100g
Method :
1. Soak pearl sago in water for 5 minutes.
2. Bring 5 cups of water to boil in a large pot. Add pearl sago and keep stirring till sago turns transparent, add a pinch of salt, mix well.
3. Pour into a strainer and rinse under a running tap till cool.
4. Drain excess water and pour into a bowl. Scoop into individual moulds to set. Chill in refrigerator.
5. Mix coconut milk and water together. Add the pandan leaves. Bring to boil. Remove pandan leaves, stirring in between to prevent curdling, add pinch of salt, remove from heat and cool in refrigerator.
6. Dissolve palm sugar with 2 tbsp of hot water. Chill in refrigerator.
7. To serve, spoon the palm sugar syrup and coconut milk over the chilled sago.
Tips : When making this make sure you have everything ready before you start as you will have to keep stiring the pot through out the cooking process.

Today let's talk about Brands! I am sure many of you have chanced upon fake branded stuff. These are known as counterfeits. But what I am touching on, are names that sounded like the brand itself! These stuff can be seen almost everywhere & aplenty but its very rampant in China, Indonesia & Thailand! Well, many of us have been ‘TER-tipu-ed’ & cheated before by some scumbags salesman right? Its a case of displaying the product in its original form with original name and packaging but when it comes to the actual product itself, what you have in yours hands is a F.A.K.E! Adidas – Asadi (this is like everywhere!) Billabong – Balibong Coach – Cochi (same design lagi!) Guess – Guees Louis Vuitton – Lois Vitton Hugo Boss – Hug’d Boss and many more! And more proof, check these out. I am sure you can tell its original name! and even this..... gaspssss! Own personal experience - this incident happened a few years ago. A fren who went to China bought some USB flash drive there coz its really cheap. He chose a Sony brand & the salesman got him a new one & without him checking, he paid & walked off. Coming back here, we tried but it didn’t work. That’s when we looked closely & the brand we saw was not SONY but......... SORY! Come on everyone, I am sure you guys have come across some other names, so share & comment pls!

Dear Vogue-u-ers…..,
When I was in my 20s, I loved to go shopping with my sister. She’s the only sister I have besides my other 2 brothers. In fact all of us were quite attached and loved to hang out together, may it be “lepaking” at the East Coast beach, fishing, camping, cycling or even playing board games during weekends. In fact, all our cousins too were quite attached and we always hang out together during weekends and took turns to sleep over as well during school holidays.
Well, actually I wanted to talk about shopping and a very memorable incident happened many years back which is still fresh in my mind till today. So sit tight, let me go “Back To The Future”………
One night in the year of 1985 or so, I asked my sis to accompany me to our neighbourhood shops to look for shoes. We went to a few shops and tried some of the new patterns in the market. There were a few rows of shoe shops along the block. So we took our own sweet time to recce the “dream shoe”. We entered one shop and saw an old Chinese lady sitting in one corner and smiling away at us and nodding her head as if inviting us into the shop. The shop-owner was busy with a young Chinese lady, who my guessed would be a customer.
Both, my sis and me went through the shelves of shoes from one end to the other end. I could hear the old lady telling the shop-owner something. When I turned my head, I saw the shop-owner gestured to me to hold on for a while as he’s busy with the other customer. I understood his gestures and nodded my head. Since it was a neighbourhood shop, I guessed they did not hire extra hands to attend to customers, considering there wouldn’t be many customers coming to the shop at one particular time right…
While going through the shelves, I noticed 1 shoe was missing from the display and remarked to my sis, “Hey, one shoe missing, where could it be?”. Then our eyes suddenly looked down and saw 1 white court shoe laying on the floor. I remarked again, “Who is the culprit after trying never bothered to put back!!!” So I bent down to pick up the shoe. When I wanted to put the shoe back on the shelves, I was kind of attracted to it and told my sis that I liked the shoe. I looked at the size and voila it’s my size. Since the owner was still busy with the other customer, I put on the shoe and walked with a slight limp round the shop (obviously as I was only wearing on 1 side of my leg). My sis agreed that the shoe pattern was unique…… when suddenly I saw the other customer stood at the corner of the shelves and was staring at us. I smiled at her and asked her opinion, “Nice????” She gazed at me a while and said, “Hey, that’s mine. That's my shoe!!!!”
Both my sis and me looked at each other with our mouths wide opened as big as a cave……huhuhu. I quickly took off the shoe and gasped, “Oooopss, I’m sorry I didn’t know, it looks so new and eeeerrrrrrrr, I thought it was one of the shop’s shoe”. The lady did not utter a word but snatched her shoe back with the unhappy look on her face. The shop-owner just smiled at us.
Out of embarrassment, I signaled to my sis to quickly get out of the shop!!!!! We gave a loud laugh, and I guessed the whole block could hear our laughter!!!! wakakakakakakaka. However before I exit, I glimpsed at her leg to check where could the other shoe be….. My guess was right, it was on her other leg…….. However I couldn’t remember whether did I buy any shoes that night????? Hmmmmm????
So lesson learnt here, never ever try anything that’s laying around untouched, unless it is on display or better still ask the Sales person to assist you…… We agreed we were foolish that time. However it was quite comical though……hahahahahahaha. Recalling the incident really made me giggled sometimes….
So Vogue-ers…., whatever the situation you may be in, remember to stay Vogue n Cool always.........

Selamat hari kambing semua! I mean, Sunday. T_T
Last Saturday, which was also the last week of the kids school holidays, we decided to go for an outing, a trip to visit my Pak Lang, Mak Ngah, Tok Piah, Nek Long and alllll my related cousins lah. Panjang sangat kalau nak list satu-satu. Nanti along the way saya introduce lah hok?
It all started with a conversation between me and Aqil one night. Masa tu baru balik dari Bhangraerobics session with Mama Moralle. Aqil, Mama's youngest son baru habis his phonics class. Mama sent me home but before that I went to make a quick rush to the supermarket cos Mother pesan suruh beli daun sop & daun bawang.
When I got back to the car, Aqil was already asking me, what did I buy. You know kids, kalau kau cakap satu jawab satu memang depa tak boleh terima. Cakap satu mesti nak suruh aku jawab sepoloh. Tu pun kadang-kadang tak cukup 10! So the conversation goes..
Kak nad, kak nad beli apa tu?
Kak nad beli daun.
Daun untuk apa?
Ah? Daun untuk..... kasi kambing makan.
Kak nad ada kambing?! [dengan nada excited]
Ada. Kat rumah.
Kat rumah? Kak nad letak kambing dalam rumah?
Eh taklah. Kak nad letak dia kat luar. Buatkan dia kandang semua lah.
[Time ni mama dah geleng-geleng kepala. Lalz.]
Lepas tu, tak busuk ke? Abeh dia berak semua macam mana?
Being the penggeli Aqil, he was concerned.
I ended up telling him I'll bring him to see the kambing one day. Dah tu takpa, bila balik, satu kampung dia pegi riuh. Cakap kak nad ada bela kambing kat rumah. Kalau stakat bilang kakak-kakak dia aku ok jugak lah. Ni dengan ayah dia pun dia bilang kak nad bela kambing. Hampageh.
Aku ingat dia yang jadi mangsa keadaan, rupanya aku yang kena. T_T And that's when we decided to visit the kambings! [Aqil nampak muka aku je, Kak nad bila nak pegi tengok kambing. Bila nak pegi tengok kambing.]
On that Saturday morning, we met at about 9am. Horror okay kita semua tak tau jalan. Ada tukang map pun kasi directions salah! [Ampunkan saya! T_T] First up, we went to visit the Farmart Centre at Sungei Tengah Road where it says macam-macam ada kat sini.

The "farm" itself is quite small, ada kambing, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils lagi aku tak tau mende apa suka tarik-tarik corn aku macam buragas padehal aku nak suap dia terus snatch gila jagung. Ada kura-kura ini, katak ke apa ah tu? Ikan, udang, oh macam-macam jugak lah. Super mini farm like that. Best ahhhhhh. Haha.
