Vogue-U Potion - They came flying on a "Dragon" to our "Far Far Away Land" of Singapore

May Peace Be With You.......

The family came for a vacation to a land 'Far, Far Away' where Dinosaurs once ruled the land, and Mummies cursed anyone trying to lay hands on their treasures. They flew on the back of a dragon, and searched for treasures within the walls of Imhotep resting place. They also met Frankenstein, a well known green ogre and Charlie Chaplin is actually still alive!.......

The above I quote are the intro words from none other than the Gembos from the "Land of Oil"!!!! haha.... where is that????..... starts with the letter B..... and ends with the letter I...... and yes if your guess is BRUNEI...

They came during the first week of June school holidays. And this time round they came with their kids..... 1 whole family!!!!!!! We can call it a fairy tale vacation..... they left their footsteps at the Universal Studio of S'pore, their finger prints at the S'pore Zoo, conquered Orchard Rd and was invited to the royale banquet by the VUs..... at Kampong Chai Chee Seafood restaurant!!!!

Hail all!!!! you are invited to witness the banquet set by VU for them.....

Enjoy....

Meet the whole Gembos, all the way from Brunei

The banquet is served.....

Meet the signature dish..... chilli crab!!

Before we chomp..... kawai!!!!

and before the hands touch the chillies...... "guchi guchi" to the youngest and cutest addition of VU, non other that Raf's Junior Blushwax

Mr G is telling..... "dun disturb my crab!!"

yeay you cannot catch me.... I finished the crabs......

stomach already full.... so can play catching next

Indra and Mama Ann with the vogue post

now here comes the Gembo's princesses.... cute

Nadh's catch-phrase.... "When Mak Pah meets Mak Yah....."
OK... I continue with a poem...
Go market to buy papaya
Drop by Geylang to eat curry
When Mak Pah meets Mak Yah
Uncle Shah sekaki listen to story

Finally, a memoir of Mr G and Mr Sam Poi

Well the Gembos have frequent S'pore and don't know whether any of us VU gals shall be fetch by the dragon to fly to the Land of Oil..... only time will tell.

The gathering was short but full of fun, laughter and finger licking good satisfaction..... nevertheless all of us missed Mama Moralle as she was having high fever and flu at that time..... However Alhamdulilah she's on her feet and in the pink of health now.
Lots of Luv..... Mak Pah

Breaking News: Shopaholic Mama was caught red-handed by the Vogue U Team.

It all begins with the status update on her Facebook which goes...

Kononnya Datin Shopaholic kita nak buat setail Mas Selamat katanya. Aceh ceh ceh. Takpa takpa. Kita kasi chan jugak tau, kasi mama Ann kita feeling-feeling Mas Selamat.. Sampai dia rasa sangatlah terselamat. Kekeke.

Since her birthday falls on a Saturday, and previously, we had surprised Mama Moralle and Sis Pearl both on earlier dates before their actual birthdays jadi trick tu tak bleh pakai lagi dowh. Kalau buat hari Jemaat tu, comform dia suspect kuat. Fikir terpaksalah ala-ala detective hok. Kata nak tangkap terrorist.

Instead, on that Friday, we sent her first gift to act as a decoy. Kononnya dah selamat lah dia fikir takda orang nak surprise-surprisekan dia. Malam tu kita pun wish dia lah Happy Birthday gedebak gedebuk. Nak tambahkan lagi keadaan dia yang selamat, saya dan kak indra siang-siang dah khabaq memang kami takda kat Singapura weekend tu. Makanya comfident abis lah cik puan kita ni ingat hazab dia dah lepas. Padehalllll padehallllll.

Setelah sepakat dengan FM [SM's hubby] dan juga Dee [SM's princess] since a week ago, dengan sportingnya, mereka pun join skali turun padang nak anjatkan Shopaholic Mama kita. So last Monday, all of us head down to her office for the official Ann-Selamat raid.

Mari layan video, Sis Pearl as the official spokesperson bringing to you live from Blackberry TV.

Prep talk before the mission was executed.
Check out our line of officers. Semua berpangkat okay.

WAKENABEB!!!

Ann-Selamat berjaya ditangkap dengan selamat akhirnya! Pucat lesi terus dia. Tangan pun mengigil-gigil. Kesian lah pulak bulan-bulan puasa ni pergi terjah macam tu. Nasib baiklah depa tak pengsan keapa. Mau kiteorang kene sidekick dengan FM nanti. Hehe.

Mission Ann-Selamat, SUCCESS!

Sabar Menanti Restaurant, Kandahar Street

Interframe jap - Ade orang pengsan/kene langgar time buka.

Underneath pokok kelapa we all buka puasa! Lalalala~

It's now officially a Happy Belated Birthday
for our dear Shopper Mama! Yeeha!

Vogue-U Potion - Big HUG

May Peace Be With You.......

Do you recall the children’s TV program “Teletubbies”? Well it used to conquer our TV during our children’s era in the mid 90s. I recalled my children would sit in front of the TV and would not barge until the program ended, not even a hitch!!!

The Teletubbies - from left... Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po & Tinky Winky

Well, at that time Mak Pah only had 2 kids, eldest girl being a very young toddler at around 2+ yrs old and my son was less than a year old baby. Mak Pah asked my hubby to buy a VCD player considering it was the in thing at that time and we were like so outdated still using the VCR player which was already about to go kaput. So one night, we headed to a so-called famous electrical outlet in Beauty World Centre. After going through the various models, we decided to get the JVC-VCD player that met our budget. When my hubby was about to pay for the player, my eyes caught upon a Thomson 21” colour TV which could at least have a better viewing than the one at home, a Sony 14” TV (now in Mak Pah’s room). Considering we still have extra budget, my hubby agreed and paid for the 2 items. Being cash n carry, obviously we had to bring back the items on our own. So I booked a bigger cab where hubby sat in front and me with the children sat at the back with the TV, while the VCD player in the booth compartment. In fact while waiting for the cab to arrive, I’ve managed to get a Teletubbies VCD for my kids as well, which was selling like hot cakes in the VCD shops.

When we reached home, all of us were so excited and spent the night putting everything together. Then it was time to play the VCD. Both hubby and me went through the catalogue on how to get the VCD to telecast over the TV. The funny part was we could hear the music but not the pictures. My children upon hearing the jingles were dancing away and singing to the songs played (that time my son was in the play pen). In the end we managed to view the pictures but not from the video channel but those searched channels. So the pictures were like distorted with slanting faces and with horizontal and vertical lines passing up n down, left to right and all over the screen.…. hehehe.

Finally both of us got tired trying to figure out how to get the video channel up coz the catalogue was damned complicated to read and did not mentioned how to do it as well. I told hubby to go back to the shop to query. The next day, my hubby returned to the shop with the catalogue and the receipt. When he came home, he remarked, “You know what!!! we only need to press this button from the remote control or from this button on the TV to select the video.” At that point of time I gave a loud chuckled and remarked “My goodness, we went through hell last nite and it’s only this button or that button????? Where the hell in the catalogue did it state, man????”

Nevertheless, my children upon seeing the video was up, were dancing away with excitement. So each time I wanted them to behave and sit still, I will on the Teletubbies VCD. And at the most common exclamation was the "Big Hug!" which one or more of the Teletubbies will invariably call for during the course of an episode, resulting in an enthusiastic group hug in the end. So upon hearing the “Big Hug”, my children would also run and requested for the “Big Hug” too.

Exactly 1 year after we bought the Thomson TV, it went kaput and has been replaced.

Just a few weeks ago my eldest daughter recalled the Teletubbies program and remembered the 1st VCD we had at that time, she giggled and said now when she watched the program, she felt so funny and didn’t realized it was so popular at one state….huhu. And when she recalled the hustled her parents went through to get the video up on the TV, she roared with laughter!!!!! Hahahahahaha. During our Vogue-U clan's exchange emails last week, we accidentally mentioned about the Telletubies program and suddenly memories about them gave me the idea to post this in our Vogue-U blog.

In fact behind the story about the Telletubies, I actually wanted to point my view whereby, we as parents can be strict at times but inevitably will mellowed down when certain things needed to be adjusted or go with the flow, and will try our best and all out to get better things for our kids. And the things may not be expensive though and yet could be cherished. And we don’t know whether our children will take note of all the sacrifices their parents had gone through to build up the family. Well only time will tell. And hubby used to tell me, “Never expect from our children to repay us, but we have to prepare ourselves to be financially capable when we aged. Our main concern is as long as they acknowledge us as parents, considered it as a blessing”. And as the saying goes “Without parents, there’s no you”…….

So children out there, including myself, have we given our parents the “Big Hug” yet???? Maybe if we're shy, why not appreciate them in other manner like calling them more often (which reminds me…. had I call my mum this morning....hmmm. Oh ya I did... Thank God... "she had just finished her breakfast"). Money is not the issue here, however, it's the gratitude we should show in many ways we can. Sometimes as age is catching up they tend to get very lonely as their children are busy with their activities and at the point of starting their own life/family and eventually the house becomes so empty and quiet....and, and, and many more if we go on and on. Nevertheless, don't worry, be happy..... we try our best to look at things in a positive way.

OK vogue-u-ers.... a “Big Hug” from Mak Pah to All……. Remember to stay Vogue, Caring and Sharing too…..

May Allah Bless Us…..Amin.

PS: A very Big Hug to my beloved mum. And to my late father, my late mother-in-law and my late father-in-law - May Allah Bless your souls….Amin.

A day with the kambengs-kambengs *mmmbekkkkk* [Part 1]

Selamat hari kambing semua! I mean, Sunday. T_T

Last Saturday, which was also the last week of the kids school holidays, we decided to go for an outing, a trip to visit my Pak Lang, Mak Ngah, Tok Piah, Nek Long and alllll my related cousins lah. Panjang sangat kalau nak list satu-satu. Nanti along the way saya introduce lah hok?

It all started with a conversation between me and Aqil one night. Masa tu baru balik dari Bhangraerobics session with Mama Moralle. Aqil, Mama's youngest son baru habis his phonics class. Mama sent me home but before that I went to make a quick rush to the supermarket cos Mother pesan suruh beli daun sop & daun bawang.

When I got back to the car, Aqil was already asking me, what did I buy. You know kids, kalau kau cakap satu jawab satu memang depa tak boleh terima. Cakap satu mesti nak suruh aku jawab sepoloh. Tu pun kadang-kadang tak cukup 10! So the conversation goes..

Kak nad, kak nad beli apa tu?
Kak nad beli daun.
Daun untuk apa?
Ah? Daun untuk..... kasi kambing makan.
Kak nad ada kambing?!
[dengan nada excited]
Ada. Kat rumah.
Kat rumah? Kak nad letak kambing dalam rumah?
Eh taklah. Kak nad letak dia kat luar. Buatkan dia kandang semua lah.
[Time ni mama dah geleng-geleng kepala. Lalz.]
Lepas tu, tak busuk ke? Abeh dia berak semua macam mana?

Being the penggeli Aqil, he was concerned.

I ended up telling him I'll bring him to see the kambing one day. Dah tu takpa, bila balik, satu kampung dia pegi riuh. Cakap kak nad ada bela kambing kat rumah. Kalau stakat bilang kakak-kakak dia aku ok jugak lah. Ni dengan ayah dia pun dia bilang kak nad bela kambing. Hampageh.

Aku ingat dia yang jadi mangsa keadaan, rupanya aku yang kena. T_T And that's when we decided to visit the kambings!

On that Saturday morning, we met at about 9am. Horror okay kita semua tak tau jalan. Ada tukang map pun kasi directions salah! [Ampunkan saya! T_T] First up, we went to visit the Farmart Centre at Sungei Tengah Road where it says macam-macam ada kat sini.

Meet my Tok Piah & Nek Long, The Otais bertanduk.
Depa dah nyanyuk, tak ingat saya dah. T_T

We got to pay a dollar to get some vege to feed the goat. Semua adalah masih takut-takut sebab kambing tu nampak macam belasan hari dia tak makan. Menakutkannnn seh. Nasib baik ada Mama Moralle. Dia yang start bagi makan. Baru lah yang lain follow lead, except for Aqil. Bahaha. Takut katanya. Menggelupur lahhhhh kambing kunyah-kunyah keluarkan lidah cam tu!

The "farm" itself is quite small, ada kambing, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils lagi aku tak tau mende apa suka tarik-tarik corn aku macam buragas padehal aku nak suap dia terus snatch gila jagung. Ikan, udang, oh macam-macam jugak lah. Super mini farm like that. Best ahhhhhh. Haha.

Semua excited either terpekik terpranjat ataupun gelak-gelak kan yang lain kena das dengan binatang-binatang tu. [Macam Yana kene kencing dengan rabbit! BAHAHAHAHA!!] Okay, tu kelakar. Lalz.

Patutnya ada educational tour lah, lepas tu kita pusing punya pusing, office dia pun tak jumpa. Apa ntah. Last-last kita buat tour sendiri. Bleargh. Mungkin lain kali ada ramai orang kita call dulu lah hok? Buat booking dulu. [Mane tau ada Vogueuers nak pegi bawak anak-anak? Hehe.]

Dee [Shopper Mama's daughter] assisting Sis Pearl to our next destination.

Kita layan breakfast alas perut makan kacang-kacang. T_T

Time ni hujan dah turun hok. Agak lebat. Jadi kita pun take a chill pill dan chillax skjap sambil plan next trip. Of course lah, bila dah ramai-ramai gini, ada je plan. Ngeh ngeh ngeh. Since sis pearl is gonna make a move at about 2pm, kiteorang pun decided redah jerlah hujan ni, lagipun sedara-mara dah lama tunggu kedatangan kami. Cheywah!

Dah sampai evewibodeh!! Beri salam dulu hok.

HELLO SEPUPU SEPAPATTT SAYAAA SEMUA!!!
*kriket kriket* Damnnn mereka tak layan saya. T_T

Meet John. John Kambs. Dia ni tak sombong sangat. Tapi muka stoning semacam je. Yang bestnya, masa kita tengah layan dia jeling-jeling.. Tetiba dia pusing terus dia berak kau. Berak keluar macam factory buat jamu pulak tu. Yana lah ni, dah lah before that kene kencing dengan rabbit, lah ni kene berak dengan kambing. BAHAHAHAHA!
We didn't go in, cos there was no guide to bring us along. Lagipun, bau-bau kambing.. Tau ajelah hok? Kekeke. So that's a quick one before we went to purchase susu kambing!!

Kawaiii vogue-u everyone!

Ucapkan selamat tinggal kepada kambing-kambing semua hok!!

Fear factor of the day: Minum susu kambing. Kekeke.

Korang pernah minum susu kambing tak yang fresh punya? SEDAP WOH! Lelagi yang chocolate. Fuh. Syokness. Mama Moralle ni aku tak tau lah kenapa dia macam susah nak telan gitu. Terpekik-pekik dia kene paksa rasa minum susu kambing. Sampai termuntah-muntah! [Okay, tak. Tu saje aku tambah. Lalz.]

Mama Ann terkenang Mama Moralle's reaction bila minum susu! LOL.

Lepas tu .... Jeng jeng jeng.

Vogue-U Potion - Keluhan Seorang Dalam Dilemma

Emelnya berbunyi berikut.......

Dear Dr Luv,

I have been a regular here eversince this blog was set up. Bila i tau ada segment macam gini, i terus nak email u cos i am really in need of advice. I have a dilemma.. I ade kenal satu lelaki ni, he is much older than me by 16 years. Umur i 22 this year. u do the math. dia tak nampak tua, ada motor, ada career, oklah. so far i happy dengan dia. At first bila i kenal dia, dia cakap umur dia beza dengan i baru 7 tahun. After 1 month baru i find out he's actually older than me by 16 years. Tapi i tak kisah tu semua, pasal i dah sayang sangat kat dia. Skrang ni, i risau, cos i got to know that dia sebenarnya dah kahwin, ada anak 2.. tapi dorang duduk asing, as in berpisah.. So I memang tak tau langsung pasal ni sampai lah wife dia found out, wife dia jumpe i.. Nak dijadikan crite, wife dia kate, my bf ni mentally unstable and has been flirting around with alot of girls and do alot of weird things sebab tu they stay separately. Dia jumpe i pun semata-mata tak nak hidup i merana lepas ni macam dia. i refuse to percaya tu semua.. I confronted my guy, he told me dia tgh dlm process nak ceraikan bini dia and wants to be with me. Bila i tanye kenapa nak ceraikan dia, he said he haven't been treated well and dah 2 tahun dorang duduk separately.. Kak Pah, i buntu.. What should i do? I sayangkan dia, tapi mana yang i nak percaya. Wife dia pulak cakap macam very relax aje. Takde marah takde ape.. Takkanlah the wife nak make up such stories.. Stress lah kak pah. I betul sayangkan dia.. :(
____________________________________________________________________

Tanya mereka dgn tepat sbb anak2 ni kdg2 tak reti berkhias, jadi “directly” tanya…..

Cadangan Kedua:-

Kalau rasanya GD berat nak pergi kerumah BF atau bersemuka, mami cadang GD cuba dapatkan matlumat dari orang2 yg terdekat dgn BF, seperti kawan sekerjanya, sepupunya, adik-beradik, pendek kata sesiapa saja yg GD rasa GD boleh percaya akan kesahihan kata2 mereka.

Cadangan Ketiga:-

Adakah dia slalu berkhayal (mcm orang bermasalah atau berangan-angan), adakah dia jenis cemburu buta hingga mengongkong gerak geri GD, adakah dia jenis menunjuk-nunjuk seolah-olah dialah lelaki paling bertuah walaupun dah beristeri tapi masih boleh pasang lagi satu, adakah dia jenis senang marah, cepat melatah bila digugat. Kalau ada sifat2 begitu, maknanya dia tak ikhlas dan mungkin, mungkin saja ya dia mencari kesempatan atas kasih sayang yg dicurahkan GD kpd nya. Jgn lupa jugak GD harus nilai selama bersamanya apakah pengorbanan yg telah dia lakukan buat GD utk menagih kasih sayang GD. Apa kelebihan GD dan apa kekurangan isteri BF.

Cadangan Keempat:-

Memang cadangan2 diatas senang ditulis tapi nak melakukan amat berat kdg2....bak pepatah "berat mata memandang, berat lagi bahu memikulnya"

Akhir kata, hidup seupama roda. Ia berputar dan adakalanya kita diatas dan adakalanya kita dibawah. Tapi ingatlah walaupun kita diatas, jgn sesekali kita memandang rendah pada yg dibawah. Sayangi diri anda sepenuhnya dan sentiasa “Vogue” slalu ya.

Sekian.

Wasalam.

Vogue-U Affiaire [Housewarming Party @ Blushwax's Crib]

Yesterday, Vogue-u got together to chillax [chill + relax] at Raf''s crib. [I hope most of you know our names by now, right?] Hehe.

It was a house-warming party specially for us, Vogue-U. Only that Shopaholic Mama wasn't around as she's busy saving the malls in Bali! It's okay Mama Ann, I've already eaten for you your share and took some photos to show that you have not missed a thing eventhough you weren't there. :)

Raf had summoned me to be there earlier as she needs an extra helping hand which of course, I have no troubles arriving early and even to a point when I was LABELLED as the SRI LANKAN MAID. Yes, to that extreme!! See see, I'm so cool like that yaw. Kekeke.

10 minutes of massage, free of charge dear chicky. Count yourself lucky this time.

Those ghostly chairs I will never lay my ass on. :p

Now let's begin. :)

Mama Moralle and family arrived at about 130pm, followed by Mak Pah Vogue and Sis Pearl. The party was made like a potluck concept and boy, was the food overwhelming. Everyone brought something to the party. As soon as Raf & Feroz [Raf's hubby] had ended their "home tour", lunch was served.

For your eyes to feast, for my mouth to savour. :p

Now let me, the one-day-only sri lankan maid bring you on a guided menu tour ey? Far right on top, as you can see is a set for the super-uber syokness black pepper noodle. Followed by Mak Pah Vogue's instant super-nice roti boyan and murtabak and Raf's signature dish, the chicken bon-bon. Erk. I mean, Rosemary chicken and its counterparts, the super KENTANG!!!!

Kawaiii chickiiiiii. 0_o

Everyone, look at Mama Moralle.
WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO SCOOP UP THE FOOD? Kekeke.
Their expressions was priceless. Heh.

Vogue-u everyone before eating! [Sis Pearl & Mak Pah Vogue]

My dear Aqil, you're really enjoying the food right?
[Aqil is Mama Moralle's youngest son, my favourite kid!]

After lunch, it was cam-vogue time!!

No Mama Ann, we did not gossip about you! Really! Kekeke.

The IT savvy sri lankan maid guiding Mak Pah the traits of blogging. Am I just cool or what? And yet Feroz only wanted to give me Hacks's sweets as payment for the day. T_T

It was a long afternoon, great fun, lame yet funny ahem *ngaum* ahem jokes, much laughter of course! Hehe. We continued for dessert later in the evening anddddd it was the best dessert galore ever I tell yew!

There was apple crumble pie & the super syokness custard pie which Sis Pearl had brought over earlier, Raf's kick-ass brownies and Mama Moralle's forever loved Sago Poco Loco. Ngeeehhh.

Tea with Mama Moralle. :p

This is my new apprentice. Aqil is 5 years old and he take some pretty cool shots sometimes. I was bribed with his PSP in exchange for a few shots on my camera. Ohhh well, I can't resist and since he's a careful kid, I'm cool with it. And if you can see, I'm right at the back on the sofa, playing his PSP. Heh. Don't you ever bribe me again like that okay. Lalz.

We ended the affair at about 8pm.. And me, being the nicest maid on planet earth, decided to stay behind to help out the couple with some cleaning. Feroz went out at about 930pm to rent out some DVDs and they we were, watching DVD through the night.

More photos coming soon from the home-owner eh? Soonnnn!! [Raf? Are you reading!! :p]

My special shout-out to Raf & Feroz, thank you for having us over yaw. Especially me. Jangan serik-serik eh. Ailebyew both! :)

To Mak Pah, Mama & Sis Pearl, you are loved! I am glad that we have shared something yesterday and with that, may our friendship blossom and not wither. :)

Mama Ann! Hope you're having fun! I think there's someone else who misses you more than us tau. Kekeke. :p
